How to reach Villa Palagione

Arriving by car

GPS co-ordinates: N 43.40035 E 10.90868


Via Munich -
Brenner Pass: Munich - Brenner Pass - Modena - Firenze motorway Firenze - Impruneta exit then take the main road to Siena as far as Colle Val d'Elsa exit carry on towards Volterra approx. 3 km before you reach Volterra (km stone 42.2), turn right towards Pontedera take sharp right towards Palagione after about 800 m then approx. 3 km gravel road
(max. length for buses: 10 m)


Via Basel -
Gotthard Pass: Basel - Luzern - Gotthard Pass - Milano - Parma - La Spezia - direction Livorno/Pisa take Pisa Centro exit and stay on the main road to Firenze Ponsacco/Volterra exit after approx. 30 km take rural road to Volterra (approx. 50 km)
IMPORTANT: do not take road to Saline di Volterra approx. 10 km before you reach Volterra, turn left at Hotel Molino d'Era towards Roncolla/Siena (SS 439d), turn right after the bridge, after approx. 10 km you will see the sign for Palagione then approx. 3 km gravel road (max. length for buses: 10 m)

 

Book a taxi

The taxi transfer from Pisa (airport or railstation) to Villa Palagione takes approximately one hour; from Florence (airport or railstation) one hour 15 minutes; from Cecina 50 minutes. In order to make the trip easier for our guests we have agreed on special rates with taxi drivers from Volterra.

How to reach Volterra through public transportation... Train/bus : reaching Florence, Pisa or Cecina.

From Florence
via Colle Val d'Elsa

The transfer by bus from Florence (from the bus station "Sita", near the train station Santa Maria Novella) to Volterra takes approximately 2 hours. You have to change at Colle Val d'Elsa.

Please let us know your arrival time to Volterra so that we can arrange your pick-up. We offer to our guests a free of charge transfer from and to Volterra (approx. 7 km) on arrival and departure day. During your stay we can arrange this service at the price of € 4,50 per person one way.

From Cecina
via Saline di Volterra

If you arrive by train, you go through Cecina and you have to change in Saline di Volterra.

Important notice : Volterra has no train station! The nearest train station is called "Volterra - Saline - Pomarance" and is located in Saline di Volterra, approximately 10 km distance from Volterra. In Saline there is a bus to Volterra at any train arrival (it takes approximately 15 minutes)

From Pisa
via Pontedera

If you arrive in Pisa we suggest to take the train from Pisa Centrale, mainstation, to Pontedera (approx. 15 minutes) then take the bus from Pontedera to Volterra. The bus station in Pontedera is in front of the train station.

Important for groups arriving by bus : The last 3 km approaching Villa Palagione lead over a curvy gravel road only suitable for buses with a maximal length of 10 meters.
