Traces
of Etruria
|
Tuscany
was the homeland of the Etruscans, who, between the 7th
and the 2nd centuries B.C. created one of the first refined
cultures on Italian soil before succumbing to the Romans.
Necropolises with their monumental burial chambers, city
walls and gates, and remains of temples as well as archeological
museums testify to the splendid culture of this mysterious
people. The city of Volterra, which was part of the ancient
association of the 12 major Etruscan towns, was a prominent
influence in that time. Guided by a professor of Estruscan
studies you will visit the most significant archaeological
sites of ancient Tuscany while obtaining a unique insight
of Etruscan culture and lifestyle
